Blackpool and The Fylde College is one of the top colleges in Britain. We offer a wide range of subjects to students who are mostly 16 years and older, i.e. in the areas of business, management and IT, catering and food production, engineering, construction, hairdressing, health and care, travel and tourism, art and design, performing arts and media and advanced level subjects. We also have more than 100 degree and diploma courses and are closely linked to Lancaster University.

Within the languages area we offer English to speakers of other languages, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Greek, Japanese and British Sign Language and have approx. 1200 students enrolled on part and full-time classes. There are 3 full-time and 30 part-time tutors, and we teach at 6 different College sites.

The Head of Languages is Barbara Mac Dougall. She was born in Germany but has been living and working in England for more than 30 years. She teaches German, French and English.
