Languages Through Culture
2005-2008

Welcome to Languages Through Culture, which is a Grundtvig 2 school project between 6 countries, started and planned in Stratford-upon-Avon in January 2005

Our project aims to

- Enhance motivation for language learning and improvement by offering adults of all backgrounds and ages opportunities to practise language ability through international contacts;

- Promote intercultural understanding and a taste for diversity by exchanging information and experience on a direct and personal level and by providing language learners with opportunities to visit each other´s countries.

- Improve awareness of national and regional differences in social customs and culinary, musical and folklore traditions by doing research on participants countries. This will be visualised through posters and a booklet.

- The working language is to be English as the major target language within the partnership, but learners of Spanish and French will have opportunities to exchange information with native speakers and other learners. To this end we will be developing a joint web-site. Furthermore, the native tongue of participant countries will be focused on in the course of the project and included in a dictionary of basic phrases as a final product.

- Finally, we will present the products and results achieved to our respective organisations and other language learning institutions interested to encourage international activities and language learning, among other places, on our web-site.
